DA-ing Announcement in the Society's New Book

on the 20th of march, introduces a change in the df and da announcements.
announcements will read the same: "[name of person] is no longer one of jehovah's .

I think Euphamism got it right; sounds to me like a legal manuever.
Announcing that someone is "no longer a JW" is stating an objective. One can draw what ever conclusion as to WHY. However the WTBTS is only stating an observation.

it was pious chest beating dedication....the back stabbing made it feel like the fall of Rome toward the end. I suppose in a way, that is just what it was....

Elders stepping out of bounds
by homme perdu inwhen i was very young the elders told my mother that my unbaptized teen sister could not go to the public park on days that brothers would socialize at due to her lack of morals.
three years ago my brother moved in with my grandmother.
he is baptised but faded from the organization 10+ years ago.

..The sad truth is that people let themselves be taken advantage of....I do not mean to be callous but this is how this sort of issue is viewed from those on the "outside".
Why can't these poor souls stand up to the damned elders doing the manipulation and SAY NO! /THIS IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS__GET OUT!

It is obvious that jehovahs witnesses are not proud of their religion.
by Holey_Cheeses*King_of_the juice. inone could rightly expect, considering the urgency of the times, and the need 'to preach the good news of the kingdomtm' before the end arrives, that jws would be doing all they could to encourage 'like-heartedtm' ones along to their place of worship/study/meeting (or whatever they wish to call their kingdom hallstm).
instead, from my observations, they are doing their best to make the halls as uninviting as possible.. the case in point.
several days ago i drove past the front entrance to the fairly new kingdom hall in ballina where i spent my formative years in 'the truthtm'.

What is their excuse?
by bagpuss ini've recently been looking at examples of how the wts misquote sources to support their theories,often omitting large portions of a quote.. one that made me angry was a quote in the reasoning book on page 89 under the subject of cross.
here is the quote,the omitted parts highlighted.. "the greek word for cross, stauros, properly signified a stake, an upright pole, or a piece of paling, on which anything might be hung, or which might be used in impaling (fencing in) a piece of ground.
but a modification was introduced as the dominion and usages of rome extended themselves through greek speaking countries.

Do you let your dub relatives watch your kids?

ok, i'm gonna say it again.
if your relatives will not speak to you.... do not let them have any contact with your children, period.

My dub relatives no longer acknowledge me; much less my kids.
They ignored my wedding invitation years ago; also ignored all the birth announcements of all of my children.
When I have seen the pompous JW relations at funerals of family members they simply ignore me and most likely do not even know that I have any kids.
I am a non entity to them because I "turned my back on Jehovah" ... one of them wrote to me years ago to say this.
chuckle, chuckle ....this is just too funny; you cannot make this stuff up! Good thing I do not take any of it seriously....
the reality of it is; the JW family members are an EXTREMELY dysfunctional bunch; whether JW or not; haviing them out of my life is only a benefit to me and my kids. Nothing lost.

A side benefit to exiting the borg
by AK - Jeff inmy wife and i made the fade in the past year or so - a side benefit is now beginning to become apparent.
our adult daughter, who was somewhat estranged due to being df'd has come back into our lives.
[we never did completely shun her, as we never agreed fully with that, but it was always strained because we were under the guilt trip].

Suggested Masthead for the New Improved Awake!
by AK - Jeff inin thinking about the change to awake - it seems a new masthead would be in order.
i suggest;since 1980 we have been using this magazine and other printed propoganda in an all out effort to win the 'apostate wars'.
in addition, beginning shortly before we applied to the united nations for a library card, we began to publish very favorable political articles about that organization in order to curry favor, and to recieve the best possible seat upon the back of that horrific beastlike organization.

I tend to have less patience with them these days....
